The Interior Affairs Minister (MAI), Dragos Tudorache, ordered that from November 30 to December 4, at a national level, over 23,000 MAI members be deployed, in order to maintain a high degree of security for citizens, informs a press statement of the ministry.

According to MAI, over 7,200 gendarmes will be on duty to maintain order and public safety at the manifestations organized in the coming days, and approximately 8,400 police officers will operate every day to prevent and deter illegal deeds but also to ensure good traffic both in localities and on the roads leading to tourist areas, including mountain resorts in Prahova Valley.

At the same time, firefighters will pay enhanced attention to areas where manifestations organized in the public space will take place and where a great number of participants are expected, the statement reads.

Inspectorate General for Emergency Situations (IGSU) troops will be ready to intervene rapidly in case emergencies occur due to weather conditions.

Also, because the winter holidays are approaching and many Romanians working abroad are returning home, MAI has mobilized 2,850 border police officers to be present at all 64 border checkpoints, in order to expedite documents' inspection and to ensure a quick transit of people and vehicles.

The Romanian police will send information bulletins to drivers through the Infotrafic Centre.

MAI communicates that the General Inspectorate of Aviation can intervene these days with five Emergency Mobile Resuscitation and Extrication Service (SMURD) aircrafts for medical emergencies. At the same time, four helicopters are on stand-by to provide air support to the other operative units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including monitoring and road traffic missions.

Special attention will be granted to manifestations occasioned by the National Day, when 255,000 people are expected to attend the 257 public events that will be organized in 204 localities across the country.
